Take an A4 sheet of card to a scoreboard, if you have on and use the cm side. Place the card landscape into the corner and score at 7,14,21 & 28.
turn card around so it is now portrait, i scored at 10 cm. snip off the top piece of waste card and press down all of the creases, add tape to the tab and stick down. You now have tje basic box. cut matching card to a strip of 9cm, score at 1cm and 8cm, add double sided tape to the scored edges and cut into 1cm strips, these are your boxes inner supports. I cut matching card at 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 for the matting and layering, then used existing dies I have from sizzix and tim holtz alterations butterflies and flowers. I then hand stamped the happy mothers day in Welsh on white card stock. ***Top tip** keep checking as you are placing your tabs and flowers etc. ... that they stay within the 14cm width of the card when folded!

Here we go again for the lead up to the biggest money spinner in the world! ... can you tell I am not a fan? Don't get me wrong, I do buy and make cards and gifts, it just starts too early and is just too much pressure to get it 'right'. As a crafter , I have been seeing festive crafting since June, it's no wonder I have had enough by october! This year i have made button trees, all styles of wreaths, 'Nadolig Llawen'/ Merry Christmas cards, stamped, printed, painted until literally my legs ached... done two christmas fayres, least said about those! Why is it that non crafters assume because something is hand made... that it is cheap to make? And therefore why are you asking that 'ridiculous' price for your items?... These people with their £300 plus handbags, £3.50 coffee from costalotta, paying £60 for a mass produced furby, or whatever is in vogue? Look down their noses at you for having the audacity to request less than the minimum wage for our hard work... it makes my blood boil!... Good job no one is reading this soap box rant eh? That mindset is not just for Christmas, oh no it isn't! That mindset is an all year round attitude from non-crafters. Most places... I've mostly only sold to fellow crafters, and then some only want to pinch your ideas! Anyway, enough of my ranting, I am going to attempt another picture drop... here goes nothing! Well I did it! ... I have been told my wreaths are too spartan...let me know what you think... Nadolig llawen a blwyddyn newydd dda / merry christmas and a happy new year xx from Mr & Mrs C
I'll get the hang of this ... eventually! ... well for those who fo not know ... we did a presentation of mrs C's creation down at Welsh ICE in caerphilly. Long syory, but sufgice to say mrs C survived ... and did not kill anyone... so the day was good!
A few items wete sold ... and we have another tomorrow, with mrs C flying solo ... locally. Not sure it will be veey good, but hell, I said i would do it ... and for those who know Mrs C will know... if mrs C says yes ...it will get done ... just as conversley if mrs C says no ... hell will freeze over before the request is fulfilled! Afyer the festive nonsense is over ... we shall endevour to carry om with sensible requests will be discovered and condidered ... hot embossing seems to be the one that transfixes us all do that will be our priority ... it ia like watching domething turning into gold for the newbies... but for the experienced paper crafters... it is still magic! see ypu soon... heol fawr my lyflies... diolch yn fawr ... nadolig llawen a blwydden newyd dda xx probably spelt wrong... but hey shoot me! I tried... which is better than not bothering at all! Here we are again... me on my own, talking to myself, at least I know what I am talking about! Well this crafting malarky can be quite expensive, especially if you buy the kits of stuff, that we do not use all of it, usually! So my idea is to supply reasonably priced kits, with well written instructions to take the complication out of it... so far, no takers, my target audience musy be out of my eyeline! Anyway, I shall keep talking to myself until you discover me... my latest learning skill has been to learn to quill, yes i did spell that correctly, I already know how to quilt, and it is very time consuming! ... anyway quilling is the art of paper rolling and shaping, then gluing togeyjer to form another shape or pattern, I made a festive wreath, i shall endevour to upload a picture... Blimey, that was a lot eadier than I thought! ... as you can see, the tight red paper curls represent berries and the looser, pinched green swirls represent the leaves, a double layer for stability. I have glued red tree sequins to the back for even greater stability.
Not too bad for a first attempt, without the aid of a safety net or a quilling board! ... many thanks to Teri, from Teri's fantasy crafts, for doing a facebook live watch party, where she demonstrated "how to ..." Ok ... where do I start, at the beginning of course Louise, i hear you shout!...well I have always been a crafter, taught to sew and knit and crochet by my grandmother and mother... have always drawn and painted and have tried most crafty things and have learned a lot and transferred skills along the way.
No the Welsh learning is as an adult, i am not very good, but am an enthusiastic learner ... siarad cymraig ... dipyn bach! ... and my Welsh spelling is terrible, pick me up on it by all means, I am on that "journey" ... problem is i am the tortoise and definitely NOT the hare!... I will try to include teeny bits i pick up as I ramble or rant through this... i expect ibwill just be talking to myself mostly... complaining to myself "why doesn't this thing have spellchecker on it?" Then reminding myself that my spellchecker doesn't like Welsh words! This is my second attempt at a start, first one floated in the ether and didn't want to publish ... then my itchy trigger finger deleted it by accident ... she rolls her eyes in dismay! Truth is i am not really all that tech savvy, that is Mr C's job ... I am a designer/crafter at heart and will admit to getting a little twitchy if i cannot do what i have in my head!... mostly this week i have been cutting out festive items, yes, i caved! ... well I have cut and photographed kits ready to go. I will try to remember to put them on here... the most up to date place to find me will be instagram at the moment, but that may change. Foe those who will not know me ... the festive season is not my favourite time of year, but hey ho! ... one has to be pragmatic ... it ain't going away in a hurry and it arrives same time every year. And there are loads of yoy non humbugs our there... so i will make some items for the festive lovers and us fellow humbuggers! ... in fact i do have a "bah humbug" die ... so far one whole card has been made, bur i shalk do more if they are popular. Cards will be made in both Welsh and English, no descrimination, and will be guaranteed palm free! ... another soap box moment!... anyway here goes nothing, i shall tey to add pictures and possibly maybe publish heol fawr , til next time ...
